The SICRA project addresses the development of a cooperative rescue system for snow avalanche victims, based on the integration of satellite navigation technologies and medium-range wireless communications networks. The system deals with the study of the permeability of snow to the GPS signal, and the development of communications that allow the sharing of the locations of the people in the environment, and establish navigational aids that allow the efficient location of the victim in the shortest possible time.
